From Cynthia_Todhunter at tamu-commerce.edu Wed Jul 2 15:40:41 2008 From: Cynthia_Todhunter at tamu-commerce.edu (Cynthia Todhunter) Date: Wed, 2 Jul 2008 15:40:41 -0500 Subject: [Staff] Changes in Zone Minimums Message-ID: <7883A277E46C4B40B6E5D1B14A69B6580336C208@exchangeserver.tamu-commerce.edu> To: Non-Faculty Staff Members Texas A&M University-Commerce values all staff members and the contributions that they make to the success of our students and the University. Staff members are a critical part of this institution and our goal is to hire and retain an excellent workforce who will have the opportunity to make significant contributions as the University moves forward during challenging and changing times. As we strive for excellence, we also realize the need for increasing compensation that will assist the University in attracting and retaining quality staff. With that in mind and with our commitment to employees, I am pleased to announce that we will increase the minimum starting salary for Zones 1 - 17 by 10% effective September 1, 2008. There will be staff members who are currently below the new minimum starting salaries whose salaries will be affected by the change. If you are one of the employees affected, you and your supervisor will receive a letter from human resources advising you of your status Approximately 144 employees or 28% of the non-faculty workforce will have adjustments made to their salaries based on the increase in minimums. The University has had a policy for several years for employees hired in at the minimum starting salary in Zones 1 - 9 and their eligibility for a 3% salary increase after six months of employment. With the implementation of the new salary schedule, as of June 30, 2008, the 3% increase will no longer be in effect. Please accept my best wishes and thank you for a job well done as the University moves forward with growth and change. Sincerely, President Keith D.
